UC LEADS Scholars Program
Funding for 2 years for Engineers/Physics students interested in PhD

Dear Engineering and Physics students:

I would like to personally invite you to apply to the UC LEADS Scholars Program (http://ugresearchsci.ucla.edu/ucleads.htm), one of the most prestigious fellowships awarded by the University of California system. UC LEADS is a two-year capstone program, beginning in the Summer of 2019 and going through Spring 2021. UC LEADS scholars receive funding to conduct research in the physical sciences or engineering. As a UC LEADS Scholar, you will spend the summer of 2019 here at UCLA doing research with your current mentor. This is followed by a wonderful opportunity to do research with a mentor of your choice at another UC in the summer of 2020.

UC LEADS provides nearly $20,000 in funding (up to $13,000 in stipends, housing costs for summer away, and funding for conferences, GRE Prep, GRE, graduate school applications, etc.) over two years. It is one of the most prestigious undergraduate research programs across the UC System.

Students not currently in research groups, but seeking to get into labs are strongly encouraged to apply! UC LEADS will assist accepted students in finding research positions on campus to begin in Summer 2019. AB540 and DACA students are also strongly encouraged to apply!

You also must have at LEAST TWO SUMMERS remaining at UCLA in order to participate, and be interested in getting a PhD after graduating UCLA.

The application deadline is March 15, 2019. Please note, the application can be found on students MYUCLA portal under “Surveys and Notices”. Additional details about the application process, selection, and eligibility can be found at: http://www.ugresearchsci.ucla.edu/ucleads.htm

We invite you to visit the Undergraduate Research Center, Sciences (2121 Life Science Building) to speak with Breana Musella (bmusella@college.ucla.edu), to learn more details about this wonderful program.

Sincerely,

ucleads@college.ucla.edu
