The MAE department welcomed 23 members from its MAE Industrial Advisory Board (IAB) to the UCLA campus for its annual in-person IAB meeting on Friday, March 6, 2026. Representatives from a range of industrial organizations, government labs, and FFRDCs (Federally Funded Research and Development Centers) attended the all-day event, which included presentations, a poster session, strategic discussions, and lab tours. IAB representatives heard presentations on the department’s research and educational programs from various MAE faculty members, in addition to presentations on student projects from several undergraduate group leaders. The ever-popular MAE student/postdoc poster session featured over 35 research as well as undergraduate student group posters, describing a range of technical projects ongoing in MAE. The poster session was held jointly with the MAE Graduate Open House for admitted graduate students to the department. The IAB meeting concluded with a strategic discussion amongst IAB members and MAE faculty leadership, and with lab tours of faculty robotics and autonomous system labs and the student-led rocket project lab. The MAE Industrial Advisory Board meets three times a year, twice via Zoom and once in-person.
