UCLA MAE Assistant Professor Artur Davoyan was selected into the UCLA Society of Hellman Fellows. The campus-wide program was established by the Hellman Family Foundation to provide support and encouragement for the research of promising assistant professors who show capacity for great distinction in their work.

Prof. Davoyan explores how light and materials interact at the nanoscale, with a focus on applications in space propulsion, energy harvesting and communications technologies.

In all, 20 UCLA faculty members were named in this year’s cohort, with grants ranging from $10,000 to $65,000. In 2020, UCLA received a $7.5 million grant from the Hellman Fellows Fund to permanently endow the program.
