Undergraduate Scholarships For MAE Juniors

Application Deadline: Friday, March 13, 2015

Merit-based scholarships are available from the undergraduate students in Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering Department who will complete the B.S. degree in the Winter or Spring or Fall of 2016.

Application Procedure:
Please submit the following: (1) a statement identifying the scholarship(s) you are applying for, (2) a copy of your unofficial UCLA transcript, (3) a one-to-two page resume, and (4) a 300 – 400 word essay on why you are interested in pursuing your field of interest within Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering. For the Vishal Parikh Memorial Scholarship, the topic of the essay should focus primarily on the field of rocket propulsion, and for the Joseph Beggs Foundation Scholarship the topic of the essay should focus primarily on automotive engineering.

AVAILABLE SCHOLARSHIPS
(Numbers in parentheses are the scholarships available; amounts shown are approximate)

Vishal Parikh Memorial Scholarship/AFRL Internship (1)
For outstanding academic achievement in Aerospace Engineering, coupled with a strong interest in the field of Rocket Propulsion. A paid summer internship at the Air Force Research Laboratory (Edwards AFB, CA) will also be awarded to the scholarship winner. See more details in the separate flyer.
Award: $6,000 plus summer internship

Boeing Scholarships (2)
For outstanding academic achievement in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering
with leadership in extracurricular activities; minimum GPA = 3.3
Awards: $7,480 each

Joseph Beggs Foundation Scholarship (1)
For outstanding academic achievement coupled with a strong commitment to the field of Automotive Engineering
Award: $5,000

Chevron Scholarship (1)
For outstanding academic achievement in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering
Award: $1,400

Jonathan Wolfe Memorial Scholarship (1)
For outstanding academic achievement coupled with a strong commitment to the field of Aerospace Engineering
Award: $1,000
