Professor Adrienne Lavine is the new Chair of the MAE Dept.

Adrienne Lavine

Professor Adrienne Lavine has been appointed to the position of the Chair of the MAE Department beginning July 1, 2006. She succeeds Professor H. Thomas Hahn who led the department for four years. Professor Lavine received her PhD from UC Berkeley and joined UCLA in 1984. Her area of expertise is heat and mass transfer; one recent application is thermal control of a nanoscale-accurate manufacturing alignment and positioning system.

Professor Lavine is currently the Chair of the Academic Senate where her tenure will end on August 31. She also chairs the HSSEAS Steering Committee for the Accreditation Board of Engineering and Technology (ABET) review which will occur in the 2006-2007 academic year. From 1999 to 2002 she served as the departmental Vice Chair for Undergraduate Affairs. Adrienne looks forward with enthusiasm to her new duties as department chair, to building on the successes of past chairs, and to supporting her colleagues in their efforts to constantly improve our department.
