High-heat transfer rate material surfaces

Description

We explore surfaces with extreme wettability (superhydrophilic or superhydrophic) for enhanced phase change heat transfer.  We incorporate such surfaces into heat pipes, vapor chambers and other novel devices for controlled generation of vapor bubbles and for effective thermal management of high-power (> 1 kW) high-flux (as high as 300 W/cm2) electronic and optoelectronic devices.
